On Rainy Days......Think of Fun Times

Elyse, on left, Alexis, and Molly getting whipped off tube
It is a rainy Sunday here........don't want to clean or do laundry.......just got done with one meeting about confirmation for Elyse and have another one for her trip to Costa Rica in a few hours.  Trying to get caught up on a lot of things and came across some pictures of our quick venture to the cabin Labor Day weekend. Some of the pictures just make me chuckle and were just what I needed on this dreary day! (sure beats laundry and cleaning!)

Alexis, Molly and Elyse, holding on
The kids each took some friends along.  Elyse took Alexis and Molly while Alex took Spencer.  Although one of the days was chilly and cloudy, the kids made the best of it and enjoyed time on the water.   Sunday was a very "choppy" day on the water, but the kids thought it was the best as they were thrown everywhere on the tube as Wayne pulled them on the jet ski.  There was no one on the lake and all you could hear were the kids screaming.  They were screaming so loud that the neighbors on both sides of the cabin came out to see what was going on!  You could hear the girls, and the boys, everywhere and it was quite funny.

Spencer, Alexis, and Molly screaming for dear life!

So as I sit here in watching the rain come down, maybe I will perk up thinking about sunshine and water....and how the kids always make me laugh!

Fun Times at the Cabin....

Vinnie waiting for Alex to get the big catch off the neighbor's dock

Kids, Vinnie, and Norah floating in middle of lake on tube.
The Kerian cabin is one that we don't get to utilize as much as we would like....not because of anything except our busy schedules.  With the kids in as much as they are, there is limited time we have during the summer so we usually do not get up to the cabin until fall.  This fall is looking bleak as well with volleyball and various other things, so we can't thank Judy, Carol, and John for letting us pop up towards the end of their 4th of July vacation so we could have some fun up there as well.  I am beginning to wonder why we have 2 jet skis, as they never get used, but we put them to good use the short amount of time we were there.

We had a super time relaxing, tubing, jet skiing and fishing while were were at the cabin.  Wayne did some work around the dock and retaining walls, but did take some breaks to relax with us and pull the kids around on their tubes (sadly, the kids told me I don't do it as well as Dad does.....I try).  Kirstin was able to join us as well, so it was a great time before she heads off to North Carolina.  We even stayed a day longer than planned to enjoy the water and sunshine as well as some family time.  The boys got some fishing in, the dogs loved it, and they even went for a swim a few times out in the middle of the lake as well as floating on the tube with the kids when we anchored.  It was super and was exactly what we needed...

We also got to enjoy the annual "4th of July Boat Parade" on the lake, which had a lot of good laughs to it.  Kirstin and I will never think of speedoes the same again....red, white and blue....oh my!  :)

kids enjoy different tube...leisure yet dangerous when Wayne pulls them

Elyse doing 360 on knee board - her favorite!

Thanks Carol and Judy for sharing some time with us!  We loved the time with you as well as relaxing at the cabin.....a wonderful place to be!!!!

Labor Day Weekend at the Cabin

Well, we finally all made it up to the cabin. First time all summer so it was nice to have the chance to go up and relax for a while. Wayne went up Friday afternoon before us to mow and do some work around the cabin. The kids and I headed up Saturday morning (had to stay home and watch high school football game -Elyse couldn't miss it) It wasn't the "hot" Labor Day weekend we were counting on, but the weather was fine and kids had a super time. The Lentz family joined us, which was fun. If you know the Lentz family, you know that Chris is a huge fisherman so that is basically what he did most of the weekend. Alex was his "fishing buddy" and we didn't see them for hours, unless we were driving around on the jet skiis and came across them. They caught quite a few bass, some northerns, and croppies. Chris shared his "secret bait" with Alex so Alex was way excited. You can see that our dogs, Vinnie and Norah, anxiously waited for someone fishing off the dock to catch something. Vinnie just goes crazy when someone pulls in a fish. Funny!

The weekend was spent on the water, tubing, jet skiing, knee boarding, and boating. Brenda, Chris's wife, loved our jet ski so much she thinks she needs one as a "new toy". Sat with the neighbors one evening to catch up and celebrate their anniversary with them. Of course, Brenda and I had to take the girls to Mankato to the mall for a while-not long though as we had to stop at Gander Mountain for more "secret bait" before it closed. Priorities. :)

Anyway, it was a nice, relaxing weekend that was very much needed. Until next time....which will probably be a year from now. Let's hope not.

SlideShow of Pictures -All Good Things Must come to an End- Great Week at the Cabin

Well, the week is almost up and then it is reality check. Today was our first day that was too chilly to be on the water, so we went and did some POWER SHOPPING in Mankota, which was fun. Elyse and Alex are all ready for school, as far as clothing goes. Tomorrow it is suppose to be in the 80s so the plan is to enjoy the whole day and head home in the evening. Summer vacation is over for me as I have class this week and then will be working on my classroom and getting ready for the new school year. So, here are some photos taken at the cabin. Highlights have been Elyse water skiing, Wayne and Alexs' success fishing (Wayne caught a huge Northern!), jet skiing, bonfires in the evening, cards with the neighbor ladies in the evening, and hanging on the lake.

More Cabin Advenutures and Videos

Well, even though we are sorry Nancy couldn't make it up for the weekend, it enabled us to stay longer at the cabin and enjoy a few more days. The five days we were to be here went by so quickly, now we get to stay through Sunday! Everyone is having a great time, spending the majority of it on the water. We did have time to run into Mankato and do a little shopping two evenings, but otherwise, it was tubing, swimming, fishing, kneeboarding, jet skiing, and water skiing on the schedule with bonfires in the evening. I am attaching more video of the kids and their experiences. One is Elyse water skiing (sorry that the video "wonders" off in the middle. . .stay with it) and the other is of the kids tubing. We have had the lake to ourselves all week, but it is getting a little busier now that the weekend has arrived. Two more days and then back to reality-bummer! As you can see, we are having a super time.

Fun at the Cabin

We are having a great time at the Kerian cabin! A lot of it has been spent on the water the last 2 1/2 days so I decided I would include some video of Elyse and Alex doing their favorite activity: kneeboarding!!! They are getting so good at it that Elyse said she needs to learn a new trick to do with it. We are heading to Scheels later to check out some "trick videos" for her to learn to do on the kneeboard. The kids have also been tubing and swimming, as well as riding around the lake on the jet ski. Jet skiing is my favorite! We only put one of the jet skis in being there are only the 4 of us here-usually the kids each bring a friend. We have had the lake mostly to ourselves so far this week, which is nice! Fishing has been super for Wayne and the kids - Kim watching. :0) Wayne usually goes out early while the rest of us sleep in. Norah has already jumped/fell into the water multiple times, loving every minute of it. She will just walk down into the water and stand there to cool off. I went for a 3 mile walk this morning on the trail and it was wonderful! Bonfires in the evening have been a relaxing way to end the day. I guess one night we are eating fish as the croppies are biting, I am told. It is breezy today so Wayne and Alex went golfing, Elyse relaxed as she is sore from so many water sports, and I read a book (yes, school work) down on the dock catching some sun! Anyway, enjoy the videos!
